Product Manager – Production Planning & Industrial Design Optimization

Location: Vienna, Austria
Commitment: Full-time

About factorymaker

factorymaker is a Vienna-based deep tech company transforming industrial building and production planning with AI-powered generative design and optimization tools.
In addition, factorymaker’s digital platform supports industrial companies and general planners in efficiently planning and operating their factories and logistics centers.

Your Role

We are looking for a Product Manager to lead our current products (building.maker, layout.maker, master.maker) and shape future solutions in production and logistics planning as well as industrial design optimization.

You will develop the product strategy and roadmap in alignment with the overall product vision, turning it into tangible outcomes and market-ready features.
As the central link between users, business goals, and the development team, you will ensure our products deliver maximum value and support our mission to transform industrial building and production planning worldwide.

In this role, you will not only drive strategy but also stay close to our first customers, ensuring their feedback flows directly into product decisions and that their onboarding and project experience with factorymaker sets a new standard.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and drive the product strategy and roadmap for layout.maker, master.maker, and related tools — always in line with the overall product vision defined by the CPO
  • Translate business strategy and customer needs into actionable user stories, requirements, and priorities
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term innovation
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, computational designers, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions
  • Act as the voice of the customer: gather, analyze, and translate feedback from users and partners into product improvements
  • Support pilot customers during onboarding and first projects, ensuring insights feed directly into the product roadmap
  • Track trends in manufacturing, industrial engineering, and digital planning to keep our solutions innovative and competitive
  • Facilitate clear communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Lead projects, pilots, and case studies with industry partners

Requirements (Must-Haves)

  • 5+ years of experience as Product Manager, Product Owner, or similar role in SaaS, industrial planning, or production system/layout planning technology
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, factory layouts, or industrial facility design
  • Proven ability to create and manage roadmaps & backlogs
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, user-friendly communication for different audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Fluent in German and English

Nice-to-Have

  • Degree/background in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Production Systems
  • Experience with production layout & material flow simulation tools (e.g. FlexSim, VisTable)
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows (e.g. Autodesk Revit) and integration into industrial planning processes
  • Understanding of data-driven optimization and AI-supported planning methods
  • Knowledge of factory design standards (e.g. VDI 5200) and sustainability frameworks

What we offer

  • Direct collaboration with the founders and deep insights into a growing tech startup.
  • Flexible working hours with the possibility to work remotely – preferably at our office in Vienna’s 4th district.
  • A high degree of responsibility and the chance to make a direct impact on the company’s success.
  • A dynamic and innovative environment with a focus on cutting-edge technologies.
